CMDL E&T is dedicated to Computer Mediated Distance Learning (CMDL). Operating from an office in Herzlia, Israel, CMDL E&T promotes and provides opportunities in continuing education and training for students and professionals who seek an alternative for classroom frontal teaching.

CMDL E&T cooperates with the best educators, scientists and practitioners in each of the fields it focuses on, offering a variety of computer-mediated distance learning courses. These are offered either directly to students, or via educational institutions. The courses will cover, among others, topics related to water resources planning and management, hydrology of groundwater and surface water, surface water and subsurface contamination and remediation, risk analysis, water supply, waste water treatment, sewage management, water quality and geochemistry, environmental engineering, civil engineering, geology and geophysics, geologic and reservoir engineering, infrastructure planning and management, and basic sciences associated with these topics. Courses are distributed via the Internet, CD-roms, and other delivery mechanisms.

CMDL E&T was founded by Jacob Bear, Professor Emeritus, Dept. of Civil Engineering, Technion--Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, Israel, and Paul van der Heijde , formerly Director of the International Ground Water Modeling Center, Colorado School of Mines, Golden, Colorado, USA. CMDL E&T is operated in the Israel, with Jacob Bear serving as Director of Academic Affairs and Publications, and Joshua Margolin of Argus Holdings, Ltd. serving as Director of Organization and Business Administration. Its operation is similar to that of a publishing house: it encourages, guides and helps potential authors to prepare distance learning courses, under contract with CMDL E&T , and markets the courses to potential students and professionals around the world via the Internet, on CD-roms, and other delivery instruments. CMDL E&T limits its activities primarily to the field of water resources and environmental engineering. CMDL E&T 's interest is mainly in promoting teaching academic courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as continuing education training courses for professionals.
